Even though Islandia is a small village, many people receive speeding tickets while traveling through the village. Most of the speeding tickets will end up at the Islandia Justice Court located at 1100 Old Nichols Road, Islandia.

The court will not accept a plea of guilty my mail to speeding tickets 21 mph over the speed limit or more. For those tickets, the court will require either you to appear in court or an attorney to appear in court on your behalf. I have always been able to handle all my Islandia speeding tickets without my clients being required to appear in court.

While the ultimate outcome of your Islandia speeding ticket will depend on a number of factors, the goal at our law firm, is to have your speeding ticket dismissed or reduced to 0 points. The following are the number of points that to each speeding conviction carries:
 3 points ----- 1 to 10 mph over limit
 4 points ---- 11 to 20 mph over limit
 6 points ---- 21 to 30 mph over limit
 8 points ---- 31 to 40 mph over limit
 11 points ---- over 40 mph over limit

The following are some of the reasons you should not plead guilty to your Islandia Speeding Ticket.

• Too many points will lead to a license suspension
• An accumulation of over 10 points on your license within an 18 month period, DMV will automatically suspend your license.
• Three or more speeding tickets can lead to a 6 month suspension
• If convicted of 3 speeding tickets with dates of violation within an 18 month period, The New York State DMV will suspend your license for 6 months.
• New York State Drivers Assessment fee - NewYork State DMV will impose a driver assessment fee if you accumulate 6 or more points within 18 months ( determined by dates of violation). The drivers assessment fee starts at $300 and goes up as the points increase. This is in addition to the fines and surcharges imposed by the court.
• Increased Insurance Premiums
• Speeding tickets are weighted heavier by insurance companies than most non-speeding tickets of equivalent points. It is always best to try to avoid a speeding ticket being placed on your license.
